Ovarian Scanning

Assessment of individual cow’s reproductive tracts via palpation and ultrasound is available to assess non-cycling/irregular cycling cows and repeat breeders. Once the underlying cause is identified, appropriate treatment plans and interventions can be recommended for individual cows or across the herd if appropriate.

On this ovary there is a corpus luteum and small follicle - both are normal and the cow was cycling regularly.

On this ovary there is a large follicular cyst - for several weeks, the cow was behaving like she was constantly in heat but wasn't conceiving. After appropriate treatment, the cow was later pregnancy tested in calf.
